Dr. Paul R. Eggum, 76, Vero Beach

Dr. Paul R. Eggum, 76, died March 31, 2011, in Nicholasville, Ky.

He was born in Benham, Ky., and lived in Vero Beach and Nicholasville for 15 years.

He graduated from the University of Kentucky and Northwestern University Medical School.

He was a captain in the Army, serving in Vietnam, and received the Bronze Star.

He was board certified in internal and occupational medicine and was senior attending staff and assistant professor at Northwestern.

He was corporate medical director of International Harvester and was medical consultant to the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co., Quaker Oats and Jewel Co.

He was awarded the Northwestern University Service Award in 1986 and 1995 and was a life member and served as president of the Nathan Smith Davis Club.

He was a member of the Medical Directors’ Forum, a fellow on the board of directors of the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine; president of Central States Occupational Medical Association; and president of the Medical Directors Club of Chicago.

He served on the board of governors for the Chicago Heart Association and the Chicago Lung Association.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; sons, James Eggum, of Versailles, Ky., and John Eggum, of Richmond, Ky.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. April 12 at the First Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach.
