Facebook training for seniors being offered

VERO BEACH — The on-line marketing firm Social Kaboom has announced Facebook training classes for seniors, designed to introduce them to the benefits of utilizing the social networking to connect with family and friends.

The number of senior citizen users on Facebook has grown dramatically, yet many of our senior population are not “Facebook savvy.”  Senior citizens still only make up about 11 percent of the approximate 134 million Facebook users, but that number is growing fast.   Social Kaboom, a Vero Beach based company, feels helping and supporting the community is vital, and has developed a training class to help the senior population better utilize Facebook.

“Connecting with family and friends is important to everyone, but particularly with our senior citizens, grandmothers and grandfathers, brothers and sisters, who likely are separated from loved ones,” said John Garrett, Social Kaboom founder.  “Facebook allows everyone to stay in touch with those they love, and share experiences with those who can’t be with you all the time”.

Several senior citizen communities in the area have already requested that Social Kaboom bring the program to their facilities.

The class is designed to teach students the basics of Facebook, including how to login, how to post, and how to search for friends and family.
