Herbert L. Hamers, 94, died March 18, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Secaucus, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 13 years, coming from Whiting, N.J.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Union in Paterson, N.J.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lucille Hamers, of Vero Beach; sons, Richard A. Hamers, of Jetersville, Va., and Robert S. Hamers, of Fort Pierce; daughter, Denise C. Hamers-Farber, of East Amherst, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A celebration of life will be from 3 to 5 p.m. March 25 at Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
Interment will be at a later date.
