Sea Oaks Strides for Kids Raises $800 for Youth Guidance

VERO BEACH — Youth Guidance was the beneficiary of the First Annual Sea Oaks Strides for Kids held on February 19 in Vero Beach.  Over 50 kids and adults participated in this fundraiser that took joggers on a 3K run throughout the Sea Oaks Beach & Tennis Club grounds. The event raised $800 and the donation will be used to support the many programs and services Youth Guidance provides to their clients.

Sea Oaks has been a partner of Youth Guidance for over 10 years.  They are one of many private clubs that takes part in the Youth Guidance Tennis Clinics Program which allows youngsters to learn tennis skills and practice their game with local tennis pros.

Brad Leu, Director of Tennis, and Ron Toperzer, Fitness Director, coordinated Strides for Kids; they chose Youth Guidance as a recipient because they wanted to help out a good cause that supports the community youngsters.

Youth Guidance mentor/mentee pairs helped sign in the runners, manned water stations and provided information about Youth Guidance to the public.  The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older.  Mentors spend just a few hours a week with their mentee doing friendship based activities that they both enjoy.
