George A. Steffens, 96, of Vero Beach, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home.
He was born July 19, 1914, in Summit, Ill., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for seven years, coming from Mount Prospect, Ill.
Steffens retired in 1979 from Universal Oil Products, Des Plaines, Ill., as a knock test supervisor.
He was of Baptist faith and a member of Vista Royal Bridge Club and the former Vista Royal Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Grace Steffens; son, Dr. Bruce Steffens, of Moline, Ill.; daughters Georgia Nelson, of Palatine, Ill., and Terry Anderson, of Hanover Park, Ill; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Pearl Robertson, Marie Jones and Alice Steffens.
