Willifred “Billy” Schrecongost, 90, of Vero Beach, died Monday Feb. 28, 2011, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Schrecongost was born March 24, 1920, in Ashton, S.D.
She was a resident of Vero Beach for 20 years, coming from Long Island, N.Y.
She was an Army nurse during World War II.
After the war she continued her career as a public health nurse and school nurse.
Schrecongost was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include her husband, George; daughters, Carol Duffy, of Bayport, N.Y., Linda Terry, of Patchogue, N.Y.; sons, Lyle Schrecongost, of Long Island, N.Y., Brent Schrecongost, of Vero Beach; sisters, Helen Carr and Marian Beardsley, both of Colville, Wash.; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Siegel; parents, Blinn and Harriet West; sister, Bea Hesseltine; brother, Donald West.
A memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach, Florida.
