Italian Food Festival to take place March 4 – 6

VERO BEACH — Every March area families gather for the best in Italian food specialties and lively entertainment at the Annual Italian Food Festival. The weekend of March 4, 5, 6, the 26th Annual Vero Beach Italian Food Festival will again be under the tents and inside the Italian American Civic Association Hall located at the corner of 16th avenue and 25th street in downtown Vero Beach. Experience all of your favorite authentic homemade Italian country foods including, lasagna, manicotti, calzones, pizzas, specialty pastas, pasta fagioli, escarole, cannoli, and zeppoli to name a few.  Entertainment will include live music, tarantella dancers, zumba, dancing and karaoke.

The proceeds go back into our community of Vero Beach in the form of scholarships, high school and charter school fund raisers and community needs activities.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
