Adriana Bitter featured at Artists Guild Gallery

VERO BEACH — The Artists Guild Gallery proudly presents “Golden Times,” paintings in oil and watercolor by award-winning artist Adriana Scalamandre Bitter, on display in the Guest Artist Gallery March 1 through March 31. An Opening Reception, free and open to the public, will be held Friday, March 4, from 5 to 8 p.m., coinciding with the 3D District’s Gallery Stroll along 14th Avenue.

As former President and CEO of Scalamandre, a family-owned business specializing in the highest quality textiles, trimmings and wallpaper, Adriana (Yana) Scalamandre Bitter grew up with a “creative spoon” in her mouth, designing her first commercial pattern at the age of 10.  She eventually studied art at Marymount College, and then Parson’s School of Art, and studied art for one year with the cubist Ozenfant who was a student of Seurat.

Bitter is one of an elite group of designers that is a Registered Interior Designer in the State of New York, and had served as President of the Decorator’s Club of New York, as well as serving on many design industry boards.  She has frequently lectured in various museums throughout the United States as well as being the keynote speaker for many antique shows.  Yana has won many awards in both the fields of Interior Design and in fine art, having nurtured her drive to paint when time permitted during her busy life as head of Scalamandre along with her husband, Ed.

Yana and Ed Bitter made Vero Beach their winter home four years ago.  She currently serves on the Board of the “Friends of the Vero Beach Museum of Art,” as well as the Cultural Council, and is a member of the Vero Beach Art Club and the Sebastian River Art Club.  She has been represented by the Ocean Reef Art Club and the Lighthouse Art Gallery, and has shown her work in many exhibitions in both New York and Florida.  Her work resides in collections around the U.S.A. and abroad.

New works by other Gallery Artists and Consignors will also be on display in a vast array of styles and mediums, including sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, pottery, glass and prints.

The largest and most diverse gallery in Vero Beach, the Artists Guild Gallery is located at 1974 14th Avenue.  Hours are Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and by special appointment.
