Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra to perform Feb. 20

VERO BEACH – The Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra will open their 2010-2011 Concert Season on Sunday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. in the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center.  Maestro Colbert Page Howell, Music Director and Conductor will be directing.  Admission is free, but a donation will be requested. The Program will open with Felix Mendelssohn’s Scherzo from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Opus 61, No1 followed by American Composer, Alan Hovhanass’ Psalm and Fugue, Opus 40a for String Orchestra.  The feature of the evening will be Beethoven’s Symphony No 2 in D Major, Opus 36 that will follow a short intermission.

Vero Beach Chamber Orchestra was formed in 2008 to provide residents in the local area: Professionals, Semi Professional and students who would enjoy playing Classical Literature an opportunity to perform.

The orchestra is in its third concert season and has performed symphonies by Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, Gounod, and Prokofiev.  The second concert of the season, to be held Sunday, April 17th will feature Pianist, Michèle Witt performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto #21 in C Major, KV467 and Beethoven’s Symphony #3.
