Second chance to weigh in on School District budget tonight

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – The public will get a second chance to voice their opinions and suggestions on how to cut the School District’s budget tonight during a town hall meeting.

The School District is facing an $8 million budget shortfall as the state considers cutting its own budget.

Tuesday’s town hall meeting will be held at Sebastian River High’s Media Center beginning at 6 p.m.

The meeting follows last week’s town hall meeting at the School Board’s chamber.

The public is encouraged to provide feedback on the School District’s website in the event they cannot attend the town hall meeting.

Later this week, the School District will hold a second town hall meeting to discuss the proposed rezoning changes for Storm Grove Middle School. That meeting will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Glendale Elementary.

Though the focus will be on the changes that would affect Gifford Middle School’s population, the meeting is open to all members of the public, including those families whose students attend Sebastian River Middle.

The only middle school not expected to be impacted by any rezoning changes is Oslo Middle.
