Ethel E. Bachmann, Vero Beach

Ethel E. Bachmann died Feb. 9, 2011, at her home.

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 20 years, coming from an overseas assignment with the Peace Corps.

She received her master’s degree in library science from Pace University, N.Y., where she worked for several years.

More recently, she was a law librarian at Martin County Correctional facilities.

She also taught English as a second language.

She did two tours with the Peace Corps, where she served as a librarian.

She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and belonged to the Indian River Photo Club, Genealogy Club and Computer Club of Vero Beach.

Survivors include her daughters, Christine Steinkrauss, of Panama and Barbara du Pont, of Vero Beach; and son, George Bachmann, of Vero Beach.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Bachmann; brother; and two sisters.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dogs & Cats Forever, A No Kill shelter, at P.O. Box 880043, Port St. Lucie, FL 34988.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 26 at Holy Cross Church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery following the Mass.
