Marcel “Barky” Barquinero, 79, Vero Beach

Marcel “Barky” Barquinero, 79, died Feb. 9, 2011, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Lynbrook, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach since 1992, coming from Stockbridge, Mass.

He was a supervising technician in the thoroughbred and greyhound racing industries with the American Totalisator Co. for 25 years and owned Briarcliff Motor Lodge in Great Barrington, Mass., for 10 years.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Maureen; sons, Jim of Milford, of Connecticut, Tom, of Bend of Oregon, Kevin, of Chevy Chase, Md., and Dennis, of Falmouth, Mass.; and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Hospice House, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon Feb. 14 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Stockbridge at a later date.
