VBMA I Love Art Community Celebration

VERO BEACH – The Vero Beach Museum Of Art will host its 2011 Community Celebration themed “I Love Art!” Saturday, February 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Museum.  Great fun for all ages, from kids and families to singles and seniors, the free event promises art activities, presentations, demonstrations, exhibitions, and exhibition tours.

Art Exhibitions in Galleries;

Artist Spotlight Presentations by Museum Art School Faculty in the Leonhardt Auditorium

Bronze-Pouring/Sculpture-Casting Demonstration in the Foundry at 2 pm;

Artist Demonstrations at various locations;

Faculty-Led Mini-Art Classes in the Museum Art School;

Hands-On Art-Making Activities for all ages in the Museum Art School;

Mad Potters Demonstration: “How To Throw a Pot On The Wheel” in the Museum Art School/Studio #5

Join the “Find Your Love For Art” Scavenger Hunt.  Visiting family and friends of all ages can explore the entire Museum using a worksheet available at the entrance. Using the worksheet you’ll find and identify 25 images found in the heart-shaped collage created by graphic designer Sean Clinton. Completed sheets with your name, phone #, and address will then be put in one of three drop-boxes at the Museum. If all your answers are correct, it will be entered into a drawing for valuable prizes that will take place at the end of the day.

The Museum Art School studio classrooms will feature free-of-charge hands-on art activities for all ages from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.   A variety of art and mixed-media materials will be available, along with helpful volunteers, so that visitors can create original art inspired by current Museum exhibitions or create a Valentine’s Day greeting card.

American Masterworks: 150 Years of Painting from the Butler Institute of American Art in the Holmes Gallery

Impressions: Selections from the Manoogian Collection in the Stark Gallery

Vero Promises in the Schumann Gallery

Celebrating 25 Years: Sculpture from the Permanent Collection in the Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Park

There is no admission fee to see any Museum exhibitions on this day and it includes free docent-led guided tours for gallery visitors throughout the day.

Chelsea’s @ the Museum in the Museum’s loggia will be selling an array of soups, salads, sandwiches, sweets and refreshments.

The Museum Store will also be open to surprise and delight shoppers, selling superb artistic gifts, apparel, jewelry, home décor, greeting cards, and items in its fabulous “children’s corner.”
