Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. The fertilizer ordinances passed by our communities goes into effect June 1st. It prohibits the use of lawn fertilizer between June 1st and September 30th. Downtown Vero sizzles with excitement at Summer Sizzler Stroll

VERO BEACH -- Downtown Vero Beach was a hub of activity Friday evening as galleries and businesses welcomed throngs of people to the 3D District Summer Sizzler Stroll. It was indeed sizzling, but the heat was far better than previously predicted drenching rains from Hurricane Irene. Many went all out for the event, luring the steady stream of visitors with refreshments and live entertainment. Flametree Clay Art Gallery hosted its first invitational exhibit; Meet the Locals, featuring their own work plus that of 17 visiting artists from the area. Beach Blanket Bingo comes to Vero Beach Museum of Art
