SRHS boys soccer semi-final rescheduled for tonight

SEBASTIAN — Tuesday’s boys district soccer games featuring Sebastian River vs. South Fork and Port St. Lucie vs. Martin County were rescheduled to Wednesday due to impending weather conditions.

Weather conditions were all but ideal at 5 p.m., what would have been the starting time for Sebastian River’s game against South Fork.  School officials in St. Lucie and Martin County made the decision to not send their teams north due to a tornado watch in the area. The Sharks are 16-1 this year and are the top seed in the district tournament.

Sebastian River coach Kurt Bangert said that his team would be unaffected by the cancellation.

“I don’t think the layoff is going to hurt us,” Bangert said.  “We would be ready to play that game today, tomorrow, or a week from now.  If anything, I think it will make the guys even more hungry to win the game tomorrow.”

Wednesday’s games will start off with Sebastian River vs. South Fork at 5 p.m., and will be followed by Port St. Lucie vs. Martin County at 7 p.m.

The district championship will still be played on Thursday at 7 p.m., and all games will still be played at Shark Stadium.
