High Healin’ Boots and Bubbles at Park Place

VERO BEACH — The ladies behind High Healin’…for the love of shoes and charity, have planned another fun, fashionable, fundraiser, this time to benefit the Education Foundation.  Calling this one Boots and Bubbles at Park Place, the event takes place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 9 at the Park Place building across from Humiston Park on Ocean Drive.

Your suggested donation of $20 (or more if you’re so inclined) will go towards the Education Foundation’s Sneaker Exchange.  So head down in your favorite or most outrageous boots and enjoy a progressive evening of pampering, shopping and chocolate.

The Park Place Salon will start kick off the event with champagne and your choice of a mini-makeover or hand massage. Then on to Tootsies for a footwear fashion show, Kilwins for chocolate and music on the patio and light hors d’oeuvres provided by Tangos.

All are invited to walk the pink carpet and wrap up the evening competing for the title of Best in Shoe.

Environmental groups continue lagoon cleanup and education efforts

Even as much of Florida and the world have come to pretty much of a standstill due to COVID-19, local environmental and conservation organizations are still working to clean up the troubled Indian River Lagoon and educate school children and other members of the public about lagoon issues – all while maintaining social distancing. Sears announces mass closures, including Indian River Mall

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Struggling retail giant Sears will close more than 20 stores nationwide later this year including its location at the similarly faltering Indian River Mall. The retailer’s parent company announced Tuesday it will shutter 26 Sears and Kmart locations — including two in Florida — this fall after seeing experiencing “a number of challenges returning our stores to sustainable levels of productivity,” including a weak retail environment.
