Membership in 2011 Impact 100 open until Feb. 28

VERO BEACH — Women all across Indian River County are flocking to join Impact 100.  It’s not a club, it’s not elitist, and it’s not a clique. But what it is appeals to a growing number of savvy women…the chance to be a part of an organization that is making tremendous strides in community giving. The concept is simple: each woman donates $1000 and all the money is pooled together for contribution to non-profits in Indian River County. That’s right – all the money.  No part of your contribution goes to expenses.

Wilmington Trust picks up the tab for administrative needs, the McCabe Foundation provides executive services, and no one within the organization gets paid.  It is 100% volunteer driven. Other organizations and individuals have joined forces along the way, including, IRSC, the Community Church, Quail Valley Club, and Impact 100 members who have contributed over and above their dues.

The first call went out in December 2008 and since that time $427,000 has been donated in $100,000 increments to four area non-profit organizations.  The group has backed up their promises with solid credentials as a meaningful organization.

“Impact Day” was held recently which afforded members and prospective members to visit all four of the grant recipients to see exactly how these funds were put to use. And they didn’t disappoint: Backpacks filled with food for hungry grade-school children to take home over the weekend; a new child abuse prevention center for CASTLE; the build-out of a Life Enrichment Center for Harvest Food and Outreach; and an infant suite for Childcare Resources.

Impact Day culminated in a wine and cheese reception at the Quail Valley River Club, hosted by board members and underwritten by Suzanne Bertman and Susan Hopkins.

As a result of a great turn-out, the group is now close to its objective of 300 members.  Each member will have a vote in April to decide which of the many non-profits applying will be awarded the grants.

Monday, February 28 is the cutoff for new members so there’s still time to get onboard.
