Willie Frank Vogg, 70, Vero Beach

Willie Frank Vogg, 70, died Jan. 8, 2011, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

He was born in Bronx, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Lake George, N.Y.

Before retirement, he was contractor.

He was a Marine veteran.

Survivors include his wife, SaraLee R. Grazioso, of Vero Beach; sons, Robert Vogg, of Wappingers Fall, N.Y., and William Vogg, of Raleigh, N.C.; daughter, Mary Ellen Vogg, of South Carolina; and seven grandchildren.

There are no services.

Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." Tree worker seriously hurt after falling from bucket truck

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A tree company worker has broken bones after falling at least 10 feet from a bucket truck Thursday, fire rescue crews said. Indian River County Fire Rescue crews responded to the incident at 10:17 a.m. in the 1100 block of 20th Street, Battalion Chief Kyle Kofke said. The man fell 10 to 15 feet at a worksite. Kofke said the man, in his 30's, suffered a possible broken leg and other broken bones. The man was conscious when he was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce with serious injuries, Kofke said. It was unclear what town the man lives in. No further details were immediately available.

‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Environmental specialists with the Florida Department of Health in Indian River County collected water samples at the beaches Monday and on Jan. 28.
