Walter S. Comstock, Vero Beach

Walter S. Comstock, died Dec. 29, 2010.

He was born Jan. 3, 1929 in Mineola, N.Y. He was a resident of Vero Beach and a former resident of Oyster Bay NY, East Hampton, NY and St. Croix, USVI.

Comstock retired as a funeral director and was respected by his colleagues.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter, Pamela J. (Jeff) Swenson, of Eugene, Ore.; grandson, Brian M. Southey; and granddaughter, Lauren J. Morton, both of Junction City, Ore.; brother, Alex, of Lake Wales; his St. Croix family, Fanny, Rocky and Shelly, their mother, Clytie, sisters and brother.

Walter was a member of Matinecock Lodge No. 806, Oyster Bay, and the Theodore Roosevelt Association.

He was a past president of the Syosset Lions Club; former member of Oyster Bay Fire Company No. 1, and a former Trustee of Youngs Memorial Cemetery, Oyster Bay Cove; he also served on the Vestry of Christ Church, Oyster Bay.

Visitation will be held at the Oyster Bay Funeral Home Wednesday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. and Firematic service at 8 p.m.

Religious Service is Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Chapel of Memorial Cemetery of St. John’s Church, Rt. 25A, Laurel Hollow; Interment immediately following.
