George “Grant” Wood, 75, Sebastian

George “Grant” Wood, 75, died Dec. 26, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Whittemore, Mich., and lived in Sebastian for seven years, coming from Gladwin, Mich.

He was a Marine Corps veteran for 17 years, where he served as a staff sergeant in Vietnam.

Before retirement, he was a sales representative in real estate.

He was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sebastian and involved in civic activities for the city of Gladwin.

He was voted “Senior Citizen of the Year” by the community of Gladwin.

He earned his master’s degree in business from the University of Alabama.

Survivors include his wife of eight years, Eleanor; sons, Skyler Wood, of Columbus, Ohio, and Jacob Wood, of Seattle; stepsons, Randy Wood and Joel Wood, both of Gladwin; stepdaughter, Krysta Brubaker, of Glenwood, Colo.; sisters, Dorothy Kusey, of Gladwin and Virginia Swenson, of Moorhead, Minn.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sebastian.

Burial will be at a later date at Sebastian Cemetery in Sebastian.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory in Sebastian.
