The weather has been frightful. I notice my dogs really seem to enjoy the cold weather. Even the old girl is trying to run and play. Did you get your pet a holiday gift?

Vero Beach sets monthly rainfall record for July

VERO BEACH — The wet season lived up to its name this month as the city set a new rainfall record, beating the previous record set more than a decade ago. Meteorologists recorded 14.29 inches of rainfall in Vero Beach so far for July. This breaks the old July record of 13.72 inches reported in 2007, according to the National Weather Service in Melbourne. Vero ties daily heat record Wednesday

VERO BEACH — The last time May 20 was this hot, Ronald Reagan was president and pop star Kim Carnes was singing about "Betty Davis Eyes" on the radio. Vero Beach reached 93 degrees Wednesday afternoon, tying the daily high set in 1981, National Weather Service in Melbourne Meteorologist Jerry Combs said. On May 5, the heat rose to 94 degrees, breaking the daily heat record of 92 degrees set in 1947. The weather service records date back to Nov. 1, 1942. Combs said the dry season for Florida usually runs from late October through late May. The wet season usually runs from June through October.
