Robert Charles Evans, 67, died Nov. 21, 2010, at the Moffett Cancer Center in Tampa.
He was born in Syracuse, N.Y., and retired to Vero Beach in 1994.
He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served four years, receiving an honorable discharge.
Before retirement, he worked as steamfitter for Steam Fitters Local 267 in Syracuse, and then for Pointe West and Vista Plantation golf courses in Vero Beach.
He volunteered at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He graduated from St. Lucy’s Academy in Syracuse in 1960.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Margaret; daughter, Heather Flynn, of Troy, N.Y.; brother, George Evans, of Liverpool, N.Y.; sisters, Rosemary White, of St. Petersburg and Nancy Yates of Hahira, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Indian River Medical Center, 1000 36th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Nov. 24 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Interment will take place in Syracuse at a later date.
