Ruth M. Craddock, 80, Vero Beach

Ruth M. Craddock, 80, died Nov. 14, 2010, at Lawnwood Medical Center.

She was born in Vero Beach and was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach. She was a member of Mount Zion AME Church.

Survivors include her son, Larry Craddock, of Vero Beach; daughters, Phyllis Craddock, of Gainesville, and Jennifer Craddock, of Fern Park; brothers, Ralph Hayes and Clyde Hayes, both of Vero Beach; sisters, Christine Bryant, of Vero Beach, and Ernestine Johnson, of Texas; six grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Mount Zion AME Church, Gifford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 20 at Mount Zion AME Church.

Burial will be following funeral service in Gifford Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Hortense/Mills Funeral Home.

2 wounded in late Monday shooting; deputies investigating

GIFFORD — Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries following a double shooting late Monday, Indian River County sheriff's deputies reported. It was the second reported shooting to take place in Indian River County over the Labor Day weekend. Both incidents are not connected, sheriff's spokesperson Sgt. Kevin Jaworski said. Details on the motive in Monday's shooting were not immediately available. Man killed in overnight shooting in Gifford

GIFFORD — A man in his early 20s was killed after being struck by gunfire overnight, authorities said. Indian River County sheriff's officials said there was no known danger to the public but are investigating the case as a homicide. "Currently, detectives are working all leads," sheriff's officials said in a statement. "There is no suspect information that can be presently shared."
