Mildred Peters Nichols, 91, Vero Beach

Mildred Peters Nichols, 91, died on Nov. 11, 2010.

She was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Yonkers, N.Y. Survivors include her son, Robert A. (Lia) Peters, of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Kelli Peters, of Toronto, Canada, Neal Peters, of Butler, Tenn.; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Taylor Simsovic Peters, also of Toronto.

Nichols worked 15 years for the NY Telephone Co. as operating supervisor before retiring to Clearwater.

There she happily volunteered with the Good Samaritan Episcopal Church.

Most recently she spent many hours volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary at the Indian River Medical Center and devoted 12 hours of watching Fox News-Daily.

Nichols was an avid tennis player. Nichols was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach.

Through her strong Christian belief, she did not fear death but looked forward to the day of being reunited with her dear husband of 47 years, Edward Nichols, who preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Nov. 15, at 10 a.m., at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Nichols may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at http://www.stjude.org/.

The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and volunteers of Indian River Medical Center who so lovingly made Millie comfortable in her last days.
