Robert “Bob” Nelson Maupin Jr., 68, Vero Beach

Robert “Bob” Nelson Maupin Jr., 68, died Nov. 8, 2010, at Indian River Medical Center.

He was born in Newport News, Va., and lived in Vero Beach since 1980, coming from Baltimore.

He was a “late blooming” cartoonist, whose drawings were often seen in the Press Journal.

He was a veteran of the Marine Corps, having served in Guantanamo Bay as a corporal during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Survivors include his companion, Celeste A. Mancini-Albert, of Vero Beach; brother, Nicholas Tringali, of Frederick, Md.; sister, Patricia Maupin Garcia, of Reisterstown, Md.; step-father, Frank Tringali, of Ellicott City, Md.

A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Nov. 12 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Florida Center for Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine, 840 37th Place, Suite No. 2, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
