VERO BEACH — The public is invited to the Tuesday, November 9 meeting of the Indian River Genealogical Society, which will have a military theme and be an opportunity for an early celebration of Veterans Day. A variety of activities are planned that will appeal to military veterans, history buffs and genealogists.
● Professional genealogist Mitch Brown, of Southeastern Roots, will speak about the Indian Wars of the Southeast.
● Mrs. Richard E. Rustin, who on behalf of her late husband, recently donated their 1,000 volume collection of military books to the Genealogy Department of the IRC Main Library, will be honored.
● An Honor Guard will present the Colors.
● Capt. Michael Howard, USN (Ret), the Executive Director of the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, will speak.
● Veterans organizations from the Treasure Coast have been invited.
● A cake cutting ceremony will recognize the oldest and youngest veterans in attendance.

● Following the meeting, Pamela Cooper, Supervisor of the Florida Archive Center and Genealogy Department on the second floor of the library, will hold an Open House for Mrs. Rustin, her family, IRGS members and guests.
The meeting will convene at 9:30 a.m. with a short business session in the first floor conference room of the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach. This and all IRGS general meetings are free and open to the public.
