Richard Leroy Corwin, 77, Vero Beach

Richard Leroy Corwin, 77, of Vero Beach, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2010 at Indian River Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 13, 1933 in Lafayette, Ind. and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 15 years, coming from Chicago, Ill. Corwin was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a professional executive for the Boy Scouts of America for 38 years.

Corwin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary; son, Brian Corwin; daughters Karen Corwin, Amanda Jolliff, Renee Corwin, Melissa Corwin and 3 grandchildren.

A private gathering will be held at a later date.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations. Howle, Zudans win in Vero; Kinchen, McPartlan, Iovino in Sebastian

All results are in for the Vero Beach and Sebastian municipal elections. Voters have returned Harry Howle to the Vero Beach Council and Bob McPartlan and Linda Kinchen to the Sebastian Council. Val Zudans will join Howle on the Vero Council, while Albert Iovino will round out the last of three seats up for grabs on the Sebastian Council.
