Wilfred Flowers, 81, Vero Beach

Wilfred Flowers, 81, died Oct. 2, 2010, in Fort Pierce.

He was born in Fresh Creek Andros, Bahamas, and lived in Vero Beach since 1959, coming from his birthplace. Survivors include his wife, Mary Flowers, of Vero Beach; son, Wilfred Flowers Jr., of Philadelphia; daughters, Marien Flowers, of Philadelphia and Doris Flowers, of Andros, Bahamas; and 10 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 8 at Friendship Baptist Church in Vero Beach.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Oct. 9 at the church.

Burial will follow in Gifford Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Hortense and Mills Memorial Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

11-year-old breaks into church, steals laptop on Christmas Day

GIFFORD — An 11-year-old who deputies said broke into a church and stole a laptop on Christmas Day, was detained. Deputies also arrested the boy's mother after saying she failed to report the boy as missing. The Gifford youth told deputies he stole the $700 laptop because "he wanted something to play with," reports show. Deputies said the juvenile was a runaway. An arrest report noted the incident took place at St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church, located just south of St. Peter's Academy. Both facilities have the same address at 4250 38th Avenue, Gifford. SEBASTIAN — Billy Wilson's impact on the community over the years was evident Saturday as family, friends, coaches, school board members and deputies gathered to pay final respects.
