Today is last day to register to vote in November election

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – Today is the last day for Indian River County residents to vote in the upcoming general election.

Voters will be given the opportunity to weigh in on who will represent them in their respective cities and towns, on the County Commission, the School Board and state and federal offices.

They will also make decisions on a local ballot referendum that could give incentives to new or expanding businesses within the county that offer more jobs.

How to Register to Vote

Those at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and legal resident of Florida may register to vote.  A person who is otherwise qualified may preregister on or after that person’s 16th birthday and may vote in any election occurring on or after that person’s 18th birthday.

They will receive a voter information card in the mail after their 18th birthday.

Those who have been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with regard to voting in this or any other state and have not had their right to vote restored pursuant to law, or, those who have been convicted of any felony by any court of record and have not had their right to vote restored pursuant to law are not allowed to register to vote.

On-line by clicking the following link to begin the on-line application form. Once you have completed the on-line application, you must print it out, sign and date it, and return it to the Supervisor of Elections office in person or by mail.

After completing the voter registration application, it can be mailed or delivered to the Supervisor of Elections office. A voter identification card will be mailed to the applicant approximately two weeks after the application is processed.

 

How to Vote

Mail Ballot

Any qualified Indian River County voter may vote by mail ballot. Request a mail ballot by contacting the Supervisor of Elections office by phone (772) 226-3440, mail or in person.

Mail ballot requests must be submitted no later than six days prior to an election.  Your designee, with written authorization, may pick up your mail ballot no earlier than 5 days prior to the election.

Mail ballot envelopes must be signed by the voter and returned to the Supervisor of Election’s office no later than 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Early Voting

Registered voters can vote early at any designated site in the county beginning 15 days prior to an election and ending the Saturday before Election Day. Early voting begins Oct. 18 and ends Oct. 30, except Sunday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Early voting locations include:

Supervisor of Elections Office, 4375 43rd Ave., Vero Beach/Gifford.

Main Library, 1600 21st Street, Vero Beach.

Historic Sebastian City Hall/Old Schoolhouse, 1235 Main Street, Sebastian.

At the Voting Precinct

Registered voters (those 18 and older) may vote on Election Day at their assigned precinct.

The name and address of their voting precinct is on their voter information card or can be looked up on the Supervisor of Election’s Web site, www.voteindianriver.com under Precinct Finder.

Voters must bring photo/signature identification to the polling place on Election Day.
