Big plays by Jensen Beach lead to Sebastian loss – 34 to 7

JENSEN BEACH — Coming off a 52-14 homecoming victory, Sebastian River traveled to Jensen Beach High School Friday. Last year, Sebastian River won a tight contest 19-14, but that was last year.

Just two minutes into the first quarter, Jensen Beach quarterback Connor Shaw threw a 71-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Steven Graziano.  With 3:16 left to go in the first quarter, Jensen Beach running back Tevin Wilson had a 5-yard touchdown run.   Sebastian River finally got on the scoreboard with just 24 seconds left in the first half when Wesley Wilson hooked up with Lamarcus Johnson for a 10-yard touchdown pass.

On the ensuing kickoff, Jensen Beach’s Kyle Patterson returned the ball 70 yards for the touchdown.

Near the end of the third quarter, Sebastian River failed to convert on a fourth down and 7 at the Jensen Beach 26-yard line.

In the fourth quarter, Sebastian River’s Wesley Wilson was intercepted by Kyle Patterson of Jensen Beach.

As Patterson was running the ball back, he passed the ball to Larry Jones, who carried in for the touchdown.

The final score was Jensen Beach 34, Sebastian River 7.

“They out played us on both sides of the ball,” Coach Randy Bethel said. “We did not play well.”

“We learn from our mistakes, take a look at the film, and have these mistakes corrected for next week’s district game,” Coach Bethel said.

Sebastian River plays against Fort Pierce Central next Friday. Sebastian River falls to 2-2.
