Community invited to Childcare Resources Education Center Grand Opening

VERO BEACH — Childcare Resources of Indian River invites the community to attend a Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting event in celebration of its new Education Center on the campus of Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach from 8 to 10 a.m on Thursday, October 14. The ribbon cutting will take place at 8:30 a.m.

Childcare Resources of Indian River was established in 1994 to provide affordable, quality early childhood education opportunities for the children of moderate income working families. In an effort to increase affordable quality infant and toddler care options for working Indian River County families, the United Way and Indian River County partner agency launched a campaign in the summer of 2009 to open and begin operating the Education Center.

Community support from Indian River Impact 100, the John’s Island Foundation, and many other family foundations, private donors and local businesses and organizations contributed to the campaign, enabling Childcare Resources to furnish each of the 5 leased classrooms and teacher workroom, employ an education staff, and create a new natural outdoor play area.

The Childcare Resources Education Center, which opened on September 7, cares for 53 children 6 weeks to 5 years year-round, Monday through Friday, and will utilize the best in early childhood practices, such as low student to teacher ratios, age appropriate curriculum, well-trained teaching staff, and meaningful family involvement.

Childcare Resources also provides funding for 43 children to attend other quality childcare and preschool programs throughout Indian River County.
