Master of the Kings to be decided in November

VERO BEACH — Tennis enthusiasts should mark their calendars for The Youth Guidance Sixth Annual Master of the King of the Hill Tennis Tournaments held Fridays, November 5, 12 and 19, at The Boulevard Village and Tennis Club, Vero Beach.  The Senior Division begins at 5:00 pm and the Open Division begins at 6:30 pm.  This exciting competition involves Tennis professionals (U.S.P.T.A.) from Indian River and surrounding counties.

The event provides a unique opportunity for the winners of the previous 15 King of the Hill Tournaments to play one another to determine who the “Master” is of all the King of the Hill winners.  The King of the Hill Tennis Tournament, a six week contest played in January and February, originated in 1996 to provide area tennis fans the opportunity to enjoy high level doubles competition and tennis professionals the chance to participate and enjoy the spirit of competition.  All monies raised at the Masters will directly benefit the children in the Youth Guidance Mentoring & Activities Program.

Tickets start at $8, with special pricing for individuals attending all three dates, and $60 for admittance to both the Masters and the King of the Hill Tournaments.  There will also be a lot of fun and excitement including a 50/50 raffle.

The primary purpose of Youth Guidance is to match each of its nearly 700 at-risk K-12 grade children with a volunteer mentor 21 years or older.  Mentors spend just a few hours a week with their mentee doing friendship based activities that they both enjoy.
