VBMA offers two-day Art Seminar

VERP BEACJ == As part of its Public Programs offerings, the Vero Beach Museum of Art offers Seminar Programs which provide in-depth examinations of topics in an intimate setting, fostering interactive discussion and opportunities for personal growth. The first two-day Seminar of the season will be How To Look At Art, presented by Arthur Blumenthal, Ph.D, held on Wednesday, October 20 from 10 am to 4 pm and Thursday, October 21 from 10 am to 3 pm at the Museum. The cost of the Seminar is $130 for the general public and $110 for Museum members. Space in each seminar is limited to 20 participants.

This intensive, interactive two-day seminar will held in the galleries and transform the participants ability to look at any work of art. In a fun, informal atmosphere students will explore an innovative way to look at all kinds of art, and achieve profound aesthetic experiences; whether you have little knowledge of art or a great deal. Personal discovery takes the place of dry lecture as students engage individually and collectively to critically assess artworks on display at the Museum. The result will be that the student will never look at an art object the same way again.

Dr. Blumenthal served as the director of the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida from 1988-2007. He received his doctorate in Fine Arts from New York University in 1984. This art scholar, educator, museum consultant, and former museum director has taught the seminar on How To Look At Art at the John and Mabel Ringling Museum of Art, FSU Institute for Cultural Studies, Vero Beach Museum of Art, and many other institutions.
