Two Sebastian pastors unite to help the addicted

SEBASTIAN — Pastors Seth Goldsmith, of Coastal Community Church, and Bill Brothers, of New Life Baptist Church, are excited to bring these two churches together to help addicted and hurting people in the Sebastian area.

“The addiction problem in our community is bigger than one church, but we can bring healing if we unite in love to help hurting people in our community,” Pastor Goldsmith said.

“It is our vision that additional Celebrate Recovery Programs will be launched in our area,” Pastor Brothers said. “We envision a Celebrate Recovery meeting on each day of the week at different churches throughout this area.”

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-Step program founded in 1991 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif.

It is now active in over 3,500 churches across the U.S. and internationally.

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 12 Steps and 8 Recovery principles.

This experience allows participants to “be changed.”

Participants open the door by sharing experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another.  In addition, they become willing to accept God’s grace in solving their lives’ problems.

Participants become free from their addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors.

This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy, and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others.

As members progress through the program they discover their personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power, Jesus Christ.

This new Celebrate Recovery program will launch Oct. 5 and will continue meeting each Tuesday thereafter.

The weekly schedule includes Dinner at 6 p.m. Large Group Meeting at 7 p.m. and Open Share Group Meeting at 8 p.m. The program meetings will take place at New Life Baptist Church, 725 Commerce Center Dr. in Sebastian.

Childcare is provided.
