Fellsmere Police, community take back night from crime tonight

FELLSMERE – The Fellsmere Police Department and other law enforcement agencies will help the Fellsmere community take back their night from crime tonight.

The department will hold its first ever Fellsmere Law Enforcement-Community Night Out, similar to the annual National Night Out, held in August.

Due to the heat and good chance of rain during August evening events, the Fellsmere Police Department decided to postpone its National Night Out participation and instead have it on Oct. 5.

The Sebastian Police Department, which hosted National Night Out in Riverview Park, plans to do likewise next year.

The free, family event will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in front of the Old Fellsmere School, 22 S. Orange Street.

Fellsmere’s Night Out will feature police and fire vehicles, an appearance by Scruff McGruff the Crime Dog, SWAT and K-9 demonstrations, a dunk tank, a rock climbing wall, live music, child fingerprinting, safety displays, games, food and giveaways.
