Long-time Sheriff’s Office captain Mary Hogan retires after 29 years

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — After 29 years in Law Enforcement, Mary Hogan is retiring from the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

“We wish her well in her future endeavors and she will be missed,” said Director Jeff Luther, of the Sheriff’s Office. Ms. Hogan began her career in the Communications Center in November 1981 and quickly reached the position of supervisor.

In 1983, she became a full time Law Enforcement Officer and transferred to Investigations as a detective.  Her talents excelled and she was promoted to Lieutenant of Investigations in 1989.

To learn about all areas of Law Enforcement, she was transferred to Road Patrol for three years, then becoming the Lieutenant of the Special Operations Unit (a division of Road Patrol).

Mary continued her education, graduated from Barry University with a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree 1994 and completed the Administrative Officers Course from the Southern Police Institute, University of Louisville, 1996.

As Ms. Hogan transferred to different areas of the Sheriff’s Office she gathered knowledge and experience as she became Captain of Human Resources and Judicial Services as well as Criminal Investigations.
