Cathleen Ann Costello, 87, Vero Beach

Cathleen Ann Costello, 87, died Aug. 25, 2010, at Palm Garden in Vero Beach.

She was born in Newport, R.I., and moved to Vero Beach 20 years ago from Miami Lakes. She was an administrative assistant employed by Miami International Airport, Miami Dade Police Department and the State Attorneys Office.

Survivors include her sister, Marguerite Follis, of Fort Pierce.

Memorial contributions may be made to VNA Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A Mass will be celebrated at noon Sept. 2 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. ‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
