Pedestrian struck, killed by train over weekend identified

VERO BEACH — A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a train overnight Saturday has been identified as Billy Dee Haines Jr. of Roseland.

Haines, 27, was struck by a train at the 1600 block of 10th Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21. The Vero Beach Police Department responded to the scene at 2:34 a.m. and found a deceased adult male about 200 yards south of the 17th Street railroad crossing, authorities said.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.
