Frank L. Martin, 81, Vero Beach

Frank L. Martin, 81, died Aug. 5, 2010, at the VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio, and had lived in Vero Beach since 2005, coming from Worthington, Ohio. He was a Navy veteran, serving as a submarine communications operator. He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and physical therapy school at Duke University. He was a trainer and wrestling coach at Denison University, Granville, Ohio.

He worked at Mount Carmel Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, and was a physical therapist for the student health center at Ohio State University. He received his master’s degree and doctorate at Ohio State University.

He was an active member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and a champion handball & racquetball player. He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Ann Martin, of Vero Beach; sons, Glen Martin of San Pedro, Calif., and Brady Martin, of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughters, Julie Martin, of Grand Junction, Kay Crowley, of Denver and Molly Martin, of Brentwood, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
