Arlean May Cornell, 98, Vero Beach

Arlean May Cornell, 98, died Aug. 4, 2010 at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

She was born in Allentown, Pa., and lived in Vero Beach for 49 years, coming from Frederick, Md. Cornell was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Vero Beach, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Vero Chapter #135.

Survivors include her sons, Barron C. Cornell of Ferris, Texas and Gaylon B. Cornell of Frederick, Md.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Cornell was preceded in death by her husband Francis B. Cornell; daughter Diane Hersh-Dickey; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in memory of Arlean May Cornell.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m., Aug. 11, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Aug. 11, at the funeral home with Rev. Gary R. Moore officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Ft. Pierce, Fla.

‘Tragic, sudden loss,’ – Memorials emerge for teen killed in ATV crash

With the sudden death of Sebastian River High School student Jake Beecher still fresh, family, friends, teammates and coaches continue to come to terms with the tragic crash that took his life.
