Mother charged in DUI crash that left her and daughter seriously hurt

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A woman who deputies said drove at a high speed while intoxicated before crashing the vehicle in a ditch - seriously injuring herself along with her daughter - was jailed last week. The 5-year-old girl had to undergo surgery for a fractured left femur, reports show. Alondra Daniela Castro Rios, 24, of the 300 block of 8th Avenue, Vero Beach, was charged with DUI seriously bodily injury to another and DUI with person under 18 in the vehicle. Man charged after high-speed chase, crash

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A Port St. Lucie man was jailed on Thanksgiving after leading deputies on a high-speed chase before crashing and hiding in a nearby trailer, officials said. Inside the vehicle, deputies found a white substance that tested positive for cocaine, reports show. Derrick Danovon Taylor Jr., 27, was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash involving damage to property, possession of cocaine and burglary of an occupied dwelling. High-speed chase nets kilo of cocaine, 30 lbs of meth

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two people are awaiting court appearances following a high-speed chase that ended with law enforcement officers seizing 1 kilo of cocaine and 30 pounds of methamphetamine from a vehicle last week. The man and woman - traveling at more than 100 mph - were arrested on several charges including drug trafficking.
