Thief hits Orchid Island, steals mail boxes

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Sheriff’s Office has arrested a south county man for stealing four brass mailboxes valued at approximately $950 from homes in an Orchid Island community.

Darren Voiner, 36, of the 300 block of 21st Avenue, Vero Beach, admitted to stealing the mail boxes and selling them to a scrap yard for approximately $30 each, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Voiner faces charges of third degree grand theft, dealing in stolen property, and giving false information to a secondary metal recycler, according to his arrest report.

He is being held at the county jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.
