School district investigates administrator, chair says ‘children are safe’

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY – “The children are safe,” School Board Chair Karen Disney-Brombach said in response to reports to the School District is investigating a top administrator.

Disney-Brombach said that neither she, nor the other members of the school board, could comment on the nature of the investigation, citing policies that protect “whistleblowers” and those being investigated.

“All we have now is rumor and gossip,” Disney-Brombach said, adding that the investigation would cut through all that.

She also said it is the district’s duty to fully investigate any and all allegations before releasing any information to the public. She explained that once the district releases names or details, it’s out there – that even if the person is found innocent of the allegations, that person’s name was already associated with the claims.

No other information is available on the investigation. Disney-Brombach said that once the investigation is closed and – if the allegations are borne out – the district would release that information to the public.
