UPDATE: Landlord discovers tenant’s body in truck in Original Town

UPDATE – 1:42 p.m. Friday

VERO BEACH — Authorities have responded to an alley in Original Town where a male’s body was reported in the cab of a Ford F-150 truck Friday around 1 p.m.

Multiple units were on scene, including a Crime Scene Unit.

Vero Beach Police Spokesman Officer John Morrison said the landlord discovered his tenant’s body in the cab of the truck. From appearances, authorities believe the body had been in the truck for a couple days.

Preliminary examination suggests the tenant died of natural causes, but authorities won’t know until an autopsy is performed.

The tenant has not been identified, pending notification of next of kin.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A middle-aged man found in the water near The Jungle Trail last week died from what medical examiners said was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to deputies. Indian River County sheriff's officials did not publicly release the man's name. Deputies recently received the man's autopsy results, Lt. Joe Abollo said. Woman hurt after truck flips onto home

SEBASTIAN — An unidentified woman was hurt after she was ejected from a truck that veered off the roadway and flipped onto a residence late Sunday, fire rescue crews said. The truck went into the air and hit the side of the garage, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jamie Coleman said. The force of the crash caused the woman to be thrown from the truck, through the windshield and through the garage's window. She was found on the garage floor, where authorities said she landed. Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. "It's a great thing," Vero Beach Lifeguard Association officials said in a statement. "We hope people are paying attention to lifeguards and condition signs before they go into the water." The Vero Beach Lifeguard Association recently released its monthly report for the beaches at Jaycee Park, Humiston Park and South Beach Park.
