Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble Concert

VERO BEACH — The Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble will present a concert of classical wind and percussion music on Friday, June 18 at 7:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center at Vero Beach High School.

The Ensemble is conducted by Page Howell, the Associate Director of Bands at Vero Beach High School.  The concert will feature Mozart’s Serenade in E flat, Ralph Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite, Gillingham’s No Shadow of Turning, Persichetti’s Symphony No. 6 and more.

The concert is free and open to the public, though a donation to the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center will be accepted.  The Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble, founded in 2008, is an ensemble comprised of area professional and student musicians.

Low beach attendance for January; no water rescues

VERO BEACH — While chilly temperatures caused a drop in beach attendance last month, lifeguards are happy to report that there were no water rescues that occurred in January. Fertilizer restrictions to go into effect next month

A reminder from the Indian River Neighborhood Association to residents of Indian River County, City of Vero Beach, Sebastian and Orchid. We are coming into our rainy season when more nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorous are likely to be washed from our lawns, driveways and roads into the storm water system and, ultimately, into our local waterways such as the Indian River Lagoon. ‘No swimming’ advisory lifted for beaches, officials say

VERO BEACH — Authorities lifted a 'no swimming' advisory for three local beaches Tuesday after test samples showed that bacteria returned to normal levels, health department and city officials said. The result means it was safe to return to the water Tuesday, Vero Beach city officials said. The advisory - which was in place for nearly a week - was issued Jan. 31 for South Beach, Humiston Beach and Sexton Plaza Beach after high levels of fecal-related bacteria were reported at the locations.
