VBHS Drama Department Summer Camp returns

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach High School Drama Department is presenting their second annual Summer Camp this year from June 14 to June 26.

During this year’s two week camp, two sessions are being offered for students entering grades 2-12. Session one will be held from 9:00am to 12:30pm. The second session will be will be held from 1:30 to 5:00pm.

Both camps will be held at the Freshman Learning Center, 1507 19th Street, Vero Beach and will include a provided snack daily.  Students are welcome to participate in both camps, and lunch is being offered by the Indian River County School District, if needed.

Pre-Registration will be available on June 8, 9, and 10 from 12:30pm to 3:30pm in the VBHS Performing Arts Center Lobby. Payments are accepted in cash or check only, payable to VBHS Drama. Parent Guardians should accompany all children to complete the registration paperwork, which can be done in 30 minutes or less.

Session One will be performing 101 Dalmatians “Kids” and Session Two will be performing Alice in Wonderland Jr. with special arrangement through Music Theatre International.  The camp staff includes Mrs. Dee Rose-Imbro, Director, Mr. Andrew Currie, Choreographer, and Ms. Karen Wiggins as Music Director.

The students will rehearse the shows with this production team, along with several other student musicians who will create a live orchestra accompaniment for each production.  The campers will also attend workshop style learning sessions taught by guest instructors.  Auditions for specific roles will take place the first and second days of camp.

Children should wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothing for movement. Costume Fittings will occur on days three and four of the camp and the second week will incorporate all the technical elements of a full scale musical production.

The cost for this interactive and educational activity will be $85 a week per student ($170 total for the entire camp).

The performances for both shows will take place on Friday, June 25 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, June 26 at 7:00 pm in the VBHS Performing Arts Center concluding the camp. Act One will showcase 101 Dalmatians “Kids” and Act Two will feature Alice in Wonderland Jr.
