Norma Johnson, 92, died May 13, 2010, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. She was born in New York and lived in Sebastian for 34 years, coming from Vero Beach. She was a homemaker. She attended St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Survivors include her son, William Pinheiro of Sebastian; sister, Katie Salimino of Long Island, N.Y.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Man suffers broken leg after hard landing at Skydive Sebastian
SEBASTIAN — A skydiver continues to recover in the hospital after he fractured his leg during a hard landing at Skydive Sebastian on Sunday, fire rescue officials said. The incident happened at 12:32 p.m. at the 7-acre-plus facility located at 400 Airport Drive West, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Steve Greer said. Skydive Sebastian is located on the northwest side of the Sebastian-Roseland Municipal Airport. The man struck the ground during the landing. He was flown to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce with non-life threatening injuries, Greer said. An update on the man's condition was not immediately available. Police: Man traps four people in home by drilling door shut
SEBASTIAN — A 32-year-old man who police said drilled a door shut - trapping four people inside a home - was jailed last week. Christopher Eugene Amoretti, of the 900 block of Louisiana Avenue, Sebastian, was charged with three counts of false imprisonment, felony possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest without violence and trespassing. Amoretti was held Wednesday at the Indian River County Jail on $22,500 bond. Amoretti unscrewed the door just before Sebastian police arrived, reports show. Sebastian police responded to reports of a disturbance shortly after 2 p.m. June 10 at Amoretti's home, where he lived with his ex-girlfriend.
