Too-dark tint leads to cocaine charges for Ft. Lauderdale pair on I-95

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A pair of Ft. Lauderdale men passing through Indian River County on Interstate 95 were pulled over for having too-dark tint. That traffic stop led to more than just a citation for the tint – Florida Highway Patrol arrested the men for trafficking cocaine.

A trooper pulled alongside the pair on the highway, near mile marker 148, and noticed the dark tint on the vehicle’s windows. When he pulled the vehicle over and tested the tint with a meter, he found it to be darker than the allowed level.

Authorities placed the driver, Anthony Shell, into custody for driving with a suspended license and called for a tow-truck. His passenger, Marvin Brooks, was also detained for the troopers’ safety while searching the vehicle.

The search turned up a little more than a quarter-pound of powder cocaine and nearly $4,000 of cash bundled in three stacks, according to their arrest reports.

Authorities arrested Shell and his passenger, Brooks, on felony charges of cocaine possession and trafficking. They have both been released from the county jail on $75,000 bond.
