Residents of 24th St., 24th Place SW to be without water Wednesday

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — County water customers at two addresses can expect to be without water for about six hours next Wednesday, May 19, starting at 8 a.m.

The water outage is needed for crews to repair a water main and install a new valve, which are expected to improve water service in the area.

The two affected addresses are 1985 24th Street SW and 1986 24th Place SW, in Vero Beach.

Upon restoration of water service, the Indian River County Utilities Department advises that all water used for the following be boiled (a rolling boil of one minute is sufficient):

Drinking

Cooking

Making ice

Brushing teeth

Hand washing dishes

Bottled water may be used as an alternative.

This boil water notice will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows that the water is safe to drink. The department is unable to provide an exact time of survey completion, though it should be no more than 72 hours.

A rescission notice will be distributed.
