Paul S. Dixon, 87, Vero Beach

Paul S. Dixon, 87, died May 7, 2010, at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach.

He was was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 27 years, coming from Massapequa Park, N.Y.

He served in the Navy during World War II. Before retiring, he worked for the New York Telephone Co. for 37 years. He was a member of New York Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Survivors include his sons, Paul Dixon of Bedford, N.Y., and George Dixon of Coopersburg, Pa; stepson, Scott Richards of Rogers, Ark.; stepdaughter, Susan Richards of Denver; sister, Dorothy Gunther of Long Island, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Dixon.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. May 11 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce, with military honors conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach.
